I also, when we first moved to St. Thomas, taught high school English and Writing for a year and a half at Antilles School. I have experience assisting a number of individual students with asembling college applications, and with writing, including working with ESL writers. I am particularly interested in consulting with writers who are engaged or interested in being engaged in the practice of memoir, my genre of choice and the medium that most of my current work is in. Memoir's importance lies in its ability to allow each one of us to share our personal truth in our own voice. When done well, with honesty, humility and humor, memoir represents the best of what makes us human, and allows us to know one another in a way nothing else can. Rates based on project. Rosalyn Rossignol, MA, PhD,, ACES member
I have published 3 books with commercial/traditional publishing houses, in addition to numerous short stories, articles and essays appearing in such publications as The Baltimore Review and The Caribbean Writer. I taught Writing and English Literature for approximately 25 years, and have worked as an editor since my first editorial job typing and proofreading manuscripts for the Journal of Social Philosophy. In St. Thomas, I have worked as a writer/editor for The Community Foundation of the VI, MLB Creative, VI-EpSCoR, Antilles School, and created website content for Nauti Nymph Charters and several other businesses. As a developmental editor, I most recently worked with Caroline Emch-Wei who published Seaglass and Sunflowers: A Memoir earlier this year (2024).
"Writing poems is a way that I can extend my visual arts practice by morphing ideas into words; they work in tandem with my drawn and sewn pieces. I integrate narrative in my work and this has emerged as poetry that accompanies the drawings, photographs and textiles I create. Rosalyn has been an incredible mentor in guiding me with my poetry work. She has helped define what I wanted to say and has used her judicious editorial eye to help shape my poems into better-sculpted pieces that have more resonance. Her mentoring has been invaluable to my writing."
"Without you this book would never have happened. Thank you for believing in me and turning my dream into a reality. I will never forget how you spent hours of your time turning the thoughts of the questionably sane into something beautiful.""
I am an associate professor at The University of the Virgin Islands. During the 2022-2023 Academic Year, I went up for tenure and had to submit a portfolio that consisted of, amongst other documents, an approximately 15-page narrative that highlighted my accomplishments in the areas of service, research and teaching. After writing a first draft, I asked Dr. Rossignol to proofread and edit the document. She accepted and returned the text to me within a very few days. The finalized document I submitted was, in my opinion, impeccable. It was fluid and a pleasure to read. A polished gem.
I recommend her services very highly..
"Rosalyn Rossignol and I have known each other as well as worked together for almost a decade. notably at the Mayapple Press Woodstock Writers Retreat. Each year at this retreat a small, select group of other published authors/writers come together to read, write, and critique each other’s work in a small group setting. During the years that Rosalyn and I worked together in our group of 4-5 people, she provided me with expert feedback on the manuscript I am currently working on entitled, Confessions of an Academic Bartender: Essays From Inside and Outside of the Guild. In progress."
Rosalyn Rossignol consulted for us on an important report which we published annually for 20 years, “Kids Count, USVI.” For several years, Rosalyn served as a copy-editor and proof-reader for content and accuracy in the report, checking narrative, statistics, charts and numerical tables against each other for accuracy. She worked to assure that the text was of consistent quality and free of grammatical and other errors. She was also responsible for checking the accuracy and formatting of all sources within the document.
